Energy efficiency is high on the agenda for EPS and our efforts were recently recognised when we were shortlisted for the Sustainable Energy Awards 2012. The annual Sustainable Energy Awards are intended to encourage, recognise and reward excellence in energy management in the industrial, commercial, community and public sectors. EPS is shortlisted for the Category C - Energy Efficiency Award, Major Users.
The next step of the assessment process will involve site audits at the Dundalk and Drogheda wastewater treatment facilities by the SEAI appointed judging panel. EPS will be demonstrating the significant energy savings that have been achieved on these operational sites.
EPS currently operates the treatment plants on behalf of Louth Co Council under a 20 year operate contract. The excellent work by the local team has led to a range of innovative plant optimisation and energy reducing initiatives which, together, are ensuring EPS continues to lower its carbon footprint and reduce its energy consumption. These energy reducing initiatives are ongoing and in partnership with Louth Co Council.
On 22nd November, EPS will compete with some of the top organisations in the country for the ultimate outright award.
