EPS signs €3.8m contract for Water supply Scheme in North Donegal

(03 Jan 2017)

EPS recently signed a contract worth € 3.8M with Irish Water for the design, build and operation of a new water treatment plant for Gortahork and Falcarragh in North Donegal.

This contract involves the construction of a new water treatment plant immediately adjacent to the existing facility. The new treatment plant will comprise a robust flocculation, coagulation and filtration process followed by disinfection. The plant will have a design output of 1,800m3/day.

The contract also includes a treated water storage reservoir at the treatment plant site, which will provide a much-improved security of supply for the local residents. EPS has commenced works and has an expected completion date of late 2017.

EPS is looking forward to working in partnership with Donegal county council and Irish Water on the project.  When completed and tested this water supply will have the necessary treatment facilities in place to enable the scheme to be removed from the EPA’s RAL and will ensure that the 5,000 consumers in the Gortahork/Falcarragh areas receive a reliable supply of high quality drinking water into the future.

This current project is in addition to ongoing projects being developed by EPS including St. Johnston wastewater treatment plant in County Donegal in support of Irish Water’s overall near €73M investment in the county.
